“I don’t know what is happening with him all of a sudden” – Kris Srikkanth expresses concerns over Abhishek Sharma’s form

Former Indian chairman of selectors and commentator Kris Srikkanth has expressed his disappointment over the Indian opening batter Abhishek Sharma losing his wicket quite early in the ongoing three-match series against Zimbabwe.

While Sharma managed to score only one run in the first T20I of the series, he could score only eight runs in the second T20I. Nevertheless, Sharma scalped a three-wicket haul in the second game of the series.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth has expressed his concern for Sharma, stating that he has to find another way of scoring runs. Moreover, he advised the opener to spend some time before going for shots.

“I am concerned for Abhishek Sharma. I don’t know what is happening with him all of a sudden. I hope he comes good. He has to find another way of scoring runs. Or the other way out is to probably cool down for a few balls. He is one guy who can always make up. You play at 100 strike rate for a while and then take it to 200 rather than throwing it away,” Srikkanth said in a video on his YouTube channel.

Furthermore, Srikkanth has also questioned the Indian team management and selection committee for giving more chances to Abhishek Sharma compared to Sanju Samson, who ended as the MVP of the T20 World Cup 2026 campaign.

“From the World Cup, his international track record has not been very good except for a few knocks. Samson was the MVP of the World Cup. Why does he not get the chance, and Abhishek gets chances like this? It is a very valid question. Abhishek is getting a long rope; then why not Samson? Why is this happening with one player and not with the other?”
