Virat Kohli is someone that I'll text if I'm ever feeling down or need a bit of help: Jordan Cox

Jordan Cox, who was part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) set-up in the IPL 2026 season, is part of England’s new-look Test squad, which will take on Pakistan in the three-match series, starting on Wednesday, August 19.

The 25-year-old batter, while speaking to the BBC, has revealed how Virat Kohli’s advice helped him approach his Test debut. Notably, Cox is expected to make it to the XI after Jacob Bethell was ruled out with a knee injury.

“I probably don’t want to share all of them, but I just wanted to ask him a few questions. He was saying: ‘Enjoy the moment. You only get one debut. Just enjoy it and have fun’,” Cox told the BBC.

“Family and friends, everything they have worked hard for, every time they have come to a game to support you, show them something why they have done all that sacrifice for you,” Cox added.

Despite not featuring in a match in the IPL 2026 season for the RCB, Cox spent several months around the talismanic batter Virat Kohli and developed a close relationship with the former India skipper.

“I’ll keep it forever, I think. He’s someone that I’ve looked up to, and I’ve managed to spend what felt like four months with him in India. He’s someone that I’ll text if I’m ever feeling down or need a bit of help. He’s always at the end of the phone,” Cox concluded.

England Test squad vs Pakistan: Joe Root (c), Jamie Smith (wk), Harry Brook, Jordan Cox, Ben Duckett, Emilio Gay, Dan Lawrence, Ollie Pope, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Sam Cook, Matthew Fisher, Ollie Robinson, Shoaib Bashir, Josh Tongue.
