I am putting in all the hard work and doing everything I can to make it to the Indian team: Suryakumar Yadav

Former Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has revealed that he is continuing to work hard in the hope that everything falls in place. Notably, Surya was axed from the Indian T20I squad after the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 campaign.

While Surya was successful as a captain in leading the Indian team to a title win in the T20 World Cup 2026 competition, his batting form was a major worrying point for a long time. Eventually, selectors had to take a tough call of dropping him from the side.

“Look, I’m putting in all the hard work and doing everything I can. If things go well, then everything will fall into place,” Suryakumar said when asked about his plans for a comeback to the national team.

It’s important to note that Shreyas Iyer was elevated as the new Indian T20I captain ahead of the UK tour. However, India suffered six defeats in the seven games they played on the tour, including a 0-2 series defeat to Ireland.

Later, they made a comeback, defeating Zimbabwe 3-0 in the three-match T20I tour to Zimbabwe. Unfortunately, Suryakumar wasn’t part of that series as well.

On the other hand, Surya managed to score only 270 runs in 13 innings in the IPL 2026 season at a strike rate of 147.54. Suryakumar made his last appearances for India in Test and ODI formats in 2023.
