Former England pacer and commentator Stuart Broad has showered praise on the Indian ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah, stating that he doesn’t see a better bowler coming up than the star Indian seamer.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Broad reckoned that if he were facing Bumrah, he wouldn’t be bothered by the pacer’s run-up, but by the output of the delivery, courtesy of his different variations, especially in the longest format of the game.
“I think it’s gonna be hard to think that I will see a better bowler than him, actually. So people might think he has to be number one, but we’re not seeing the full sort of journey of Jasprit Bumrah yet,” Broad said on Sky Sports.
Phenomenally difficult to face, unique how he runs up, delivers the ball. But, but I’m actually not bothered about how he runs up, delivers the ball. I’m worried about what the output is, and his output has got an incredible outswinger, amazing inswinger, gets bounce, he’s rapid, and can wobble the seam. So his, his skill set in Test match cricket is outstanding,” he added.
Notably, Bumrah has claimed 234 wickets in only 52 Tests, averaging 19.79, including 16 five-wicket hauls and seven four-wicket hauls. Further, he has 151 ODI wickets in 91 games, while he has scalped 121 wickets in 95 T20Is.
Additionally, the former England seamer also pointed out Bumrah’s exceptional average of under 20, despite playing a lot of Tests in Indian conditions, where seamers don’t get enough help.
“I think he averages under 20, actually, and playing a lot of the games in India. But, he’s a complete package and it’s he’s done it his own way. He’s not followed a textbook, he’s not been moulded into something. He is Jasprit Bumrah. He is, he is that natural flow of a bowler,” Broad concluded.
