Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) made one of the most important trades before the IPL 2027 season. They let go of their captain, Rishabh Pant, who they had bought for INR 27 crores in the IPL 2025 auction, and traded him to Delhi Capitals and got Kuldeep Yadav in return.
Lucknow Super Giants have not made it into the IPL playoffs since the 2023 edition and have undergone multiple captaincy changes. They have also chopped and changed their squad a lot in recent IPL squads, and there are chances that LSG will let go of a host of players before the IPL 2027 auction. Let’s take a look at 3 players that LSG might release.
Here are the 3 players LSG could release before the IPL 2027 mini-auction:
3. Digvesh Rathi
Digvesh Rathi had impressed one and all with his mystery spin for LSG in IPL 2025, taking 14 wickets and was retained by the franchise for IPL 2026. However, Rathi’s performance dipped massively in the IPL 2026 tournament. He only managed 5 wickets in 10 games he played for LSG, giving up runs at an economy of 10.17, with the best bowling figures of 2/45. His on-field behaviour also came into disrepute, and it remains to be seen whether LSG shows confidence in Rathi and retains him or releases him.
2. Arshin Kulkarni
Arshin Kulkarni was entrusted with opening the innings in a couple of games in IPL 2025 and 2026, and he managed a total of 27 runs. He made 17 runs in 2 games in IPL 2026 and wasn’t trusted to bowl by the LSG management. Arshin Kulkarni was retained by the franchise heading into the 2026 IPL, but it remains unlikely that LSG will retain him for the IPL 2027 season.
1. Arjun Tendulkar
After spending a lot of time on the Mumbai Indians’ bench and playing just 5 games in two seasons for them, Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary Sachin Tendulkar, was bought by the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2026 auction. He has picked only 4 wickets in 6 IPL games and has gotten only one game by LSG in IPL 2026, taking one wicket. It doesn’t seem that LSG has much confidence in Arjun Tendulkar, and he might be released before the IPL 2027 auction.
