Monday's 6-wicket victory over the Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) allowed Saint Lucia Kings (SLK) to win their first-ever Caribbean Premier League title. Noor Ahmad played a magnificent innings and Roston Chase and Aaron Jones had a fantastic partnership in the latter stages of the run-chase.

Earlier, after winning the toss, SLK chose to bowl and quickly removed the opposition's top order. Even though every bowler claimed a wicket, Noor Ahmad emerged as the clear star once more, taking three wickets for just 19 runs in his four overs. GAW scored 20 overs at 138/8. Guyana struggled to get going during the innings, and their top scores were Dwaine Pretorius (25 in 12 balls, with two fours and two sixes) and Shai Hope (22 in 24 balls, with four boundaries).

Saint Lucia Kings First Victory of CPL 2024 Finals:

Captain Faf du Plessis (21 in 21 balls, two fours and a six) and form batsman Johnson Charles (7), who between them scored over 850 runs in the competition, were unable to repeat their previous exploits and were removed early in the run chase. At one point, SLK was 51 for 4, and things were hopeless. But, Chase and Jones, with 39 runs off 22 deliveries, two fours and two sixes, and 48 runs off 31 balls, two fours and four sixes, respectively, began their outstanding counterattacking innings, and with 11 balls remaining, they won the championship.
