On October 4 (Friday), at Providence Stadium in Guyana, during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 Qualifier 2 between the Guyana Amazon Warriors and the Barbados Royals, Moeen Ali demonstrated his worth with the bat and the ball. After helping to bowl the Barbados Royals out for 148 with two wickets for 24 runs, the English cricketer chipped in with the ball and went undefeated in the Guyana Amazon Warriors' successful run chase that secured their spot in the CPL final.

When Moeen Ali entered the game to lead the Amazon Warrior's batting order, he never gave off the wrong vibes. With his opening partner Rahmanullah Gurbaz leading the attack initially and Shai Hope following suit, Moeen executed his part flawlessly, scoring 44 off 35 and maintaining one end intact while scoring at a rate of 125.71. Moeen's selection as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) came as no surprise.

During the post-match press conference, Moeen stated that he was fortunate to have taken two wickets because neither of those deliveries was likely to take a wicket. He disclosed that the squad benefitted much from his request to open, which was made to skipper Imran Tahir.

"My job is to knock things around (he says that his job was to knock things around and let Gurbaz and Hope handle the heavy lifting). Everywhere I go, Guyanese people want me to open the batting, therefore I offered to the captain that I should do so because I thought it would be beneficial for the team," he said.
