Dwayne Bravo to retire from T20s after CPL 2024

The extraordinary cricketer who has a significant contribution to the T20 cricket history is all set to retire. 40 year old Dwayne Bravo will play his last T20 match at CPL 2024.

The legendary all-rounder from the West Indies Dwayne Bravo is all set to bid adieu to the T20s cricket format. The cricketer announced his retirement from professional T20 cricket. Currently, he is playing in the 12th edition of the Caribbean Premiere League (CPL 2024) which will also be his final dance. Taking to his official Instagram handle, Bravo shared a post about his retirement. 

In his retirement post, he talked about his 'great journey' of cricketing career. He also expressed his liking of being with his Caribbean people. It's interesting to note that the retirement announcement was made just hours before the Trinbago Knight Riders and St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots are scheduled to play at Warner Park, Basseterre.

Dwayne Bravo's last dance at CPL 2024:

He finishes his thrilling CPL career as the top wicket-taker with 128 wickets at an average of 22.40 and an economy of 8.69 from 103 matches. Bravo also has the most CPL titles of any player in the tournament's history, having won three with the Trinidad and Tobago Knight Riders after first playing for the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel and one with the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots.

In 2023, Dwayne Bravo declared his retirement from the Indian Premier League, prior to joining the coaching staff of CSK. Following the 2021 T20 World Cup, he announced his retirement from international cricket. Fans of the legendary cricketer have taken to social media to express their sadness about his retirement. The cricket fans have also wished him the best on his retirement post. 

Bravo has taken 630 wickets in 579 matches during his T20 career, becoming the top wicket-taker in 20-over cricket. Furthermore, he has scored 6,970 runs in the same format. He has a reputation for taking home awards in the game's shortest format. The Windies player is anticipated to use his coaching and mentoring abilities after he retires. Bravo has also performed well as a bowling consultant for the Afghanistan National Cricket squad at the 2024 T20 World Cup, helping the squad advance to the semi-finals.
