Opening batsman Fakhar Zaman of Pakistan is scheduled to leave the current Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2024) in order to take part in the first-ever Champions One-Day Cup in Pakistan. In his short time playing with the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in the CPL, Zaman has had a big influence.

He has scored eighty-three runs in just two games. But his absence creates a significant hole in the Falcons' lineup. Notably, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), directed by Mohsin Naqvi, has launched a new venture called the Champions One-Day Cup, which will take place at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad from September 12 to September 29, 2024.

The purpose of this domestic cricket competition is to develop the cricketing talent in the nation. The objective is to give the players the best possible preparation for when they represent the country in future international contests. The five teams competing in the tournament—the Dolphins, Lions, Panthers, Stallions, and Wolves—will be guided by legendary cricket players to promote personal and professional development.

Fakhar Zaman bids adieu to CPL 2024:

Some cricketers from Pakistan will continue playing in the CPL while Fakhar Zaman returns home. Azam Khan, the hitter who takes wickets, is anticipated to stick with his Champions One-Day Cup side, according to reports. In a similar vein, Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir, who have retired from ODIs, will still play in the CPL.

Legendary players Waqar Younis, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, Saqlain Mushtaq, and Sarfaraz Ahmed have been added as team mentors. The Pakistan Cricket Board is attempting to reorganize its domestic cricket in order to attract new players who would eventually play for the national squad.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said in a statement, "I'm happy to introduce the Champions Cup teams' five outstanding champions as mentors. Together with their enthusiasm for the game we all love, these people provide a wealth of cricketing experience, knowledge, and expertise that will aid the Pakistan Cricket Board in identifying, fostering, and developing the next generation of players in all formats. This initiative will not only benefit the Pakistan men's cricket team but also help bridge the gap between domestic and international cricket."
