The middle-order batter of South Africa Heinrich Klaasen is known as the six-hitting machine. He was a great asset to St Lucia Kings. However, the player has withdrawn from the 12th edition of Caribbean Premiere League 2024 due to a family emergency. This unexpected mishap has become a huge setback to St Lucia Kings as they had secured Heinrich Klaasen in June ahead of the CPL draft. The world-class power hitter against spin bowling, Klaasen will be dearly missed by his squad.
In 2022, Klaasen played for the Guyana Amazon Warriors, but that was before he really started to shine as a limited-overs cricket player. In five games, he scored 118 runs at a 137-strike rate. He has played 82 Twenty20 matches for both club and nation in the two years that have followed, amassing 2293 runs at a strike rate of 169, including two hundred and sixteen fifties.
Tim Seifert replaces Heinrich Klaasen at CPL 2024:
Last season, the Kings had advanced to the Eliminator after finishing third on the points table. Now, they had to replace their ace player Heinrich Klaasen with New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert. The player from New Zealand previously played for the Trinbago Knight Riders and won the title with them in 2020. The goal of St Lucia Kings' calculated action is to lessen the blow of losing a vital player like Klaasen so close to the competition.
