3 Star cricketers who married their cousins

Many star cricketers got married to well-known personalities, and their love stories are well-documented on social media and the internet. There are a lot of famous cricketers who married their childhood loves and celebrities, making things interesting for their fans.

However, a few famous cricketers stole the spotlight after marrying their relatives, especially their cousins. When it comes to love, it doesn’t know age, race, gender, or religion. In this article, let’s take a look at three famous cricketers who married their cousins.

1. Mustafizur Rahman and Samia Parvin

Bangladesh pace spearhead Mustafizur Rahman tied the knot to his maternal cousin and psychology student, Samia Parvin, in a private ceremony in Hadipur in 2019 after the infamous Christchurch mosque attack.

Notably, Mustafizur was part of the Bangladesh team that narrowly escaped a terrorist attack during the New Zealand tour in 2019 and was left with trauma. His family and close ones decided to get Mustafizur married to help him recover from the horror.

With Samia having a decent background in psychology, she played a crucial role in providing mental support to the pacer as he found the right balance in his professional and personal life. They welcomed a baby boy in December 2024.

2. Saeed Anwar and Lubna Anwar

Pakistan's legendary cricketer Saeed Anwar is another famous player to get married to his cousin. The former star cricketer married his cousin Lubna in 1996 after growing up together since their childhood.

After emerging as one of the best opening batters of his generation since making his debut in 1989, Saeed Anwar married Lubna, who is a well-known consultant psychiatrist specializing in adult mental health.

Notably, this lovely pair got married in a private wedding ceremony in March 1996. They later welcomed a baby daughter named Bismah, who, unfortunately, suffered a tragic death in 2001 due to a prolonged illness. Later in 2003, they had a son named Khuzima Saeed.

3. Shahid Afridi and Nadia Afridi

Another Pakistani cricketer who got married to his cousin is all-rounder Shahid Afridi, who tied the knot with his maternal cousin Nadia Afridi in 2000. Notably, Shahid made his international debut at the age of 16.

According to reports, Shahid and Nadia are childhood friends and it is reported that his father was the one to select Nadia as the bride to his son. While Nadia was only 16 during the wedding, Shahid was 20.

The lovely couple are proud parents to five daughters Aqsa, Ansha, Ajwa, Asmara, and Arwa. Interestingly, the eldest daughter Ansha got married to the star Pakistani bowler Shaheen Afridi in September 2023.
