Former Indian cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has revealed that Rinku Singh might not make it to the playing XI in the forthcoming Asia Cup 2025 campaign, which is scheduled to start on Tuesday, September 9.
Rinku Singh, who made his T20I debut in 2023, has racked up 546 runs in 33 T20Is with three fifties, while his highest score is 69* at a strike rate of 161.06. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra asserted that Rinku would not be able to represent India in the 2025 Asia Cup.
On the other hand, he felt that Shivam Dube might get an opportunity. In response to a user's query about why Shashank Singh was left off the India squad for the event, Chopra expressed his opinion, stating that there is no place for him currently.
"It's a good question. His number will come, but it can't come so soon because there is no place. Rinku Singh, as a finisher, will be sitting out currently, and Shivam Dube will probably play at No. 7 if he gets a chance to play. Hardik Pandya and Jitesh Sharma are there. Where is the place?” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
Rinku's last T20I came against England at the Wankhede in Mumbai in February 2025.
