Former Indian cricketer and analyst Aakash Chopra feels Indian vice-captain and keeper-batter Rishabh Pant can change the game’s complexion in just one hour if he settles down on the fifth and final day of the Lord’s Test.
Moving into the details, India are on 58/4 in 17.4 overs at stumps on Day 4. The Men In Blue require another 135 runs on Day 5 to script a historic win at the home of cricket. KL Rahul, the opening batter, is at the crease on an unbeaten 33 with Rishabh Pant expected to join him.
"Where is the match standing? India have lost four wickets, effectively three, but the fact is that only six are in your bank. Rishabh Pant didn't come, a nightwatchman was sent, and he got out off the last ball of the day. KL Rahul, who is playing well, is at one end. Rishabh Pant is the guy who can make or break it. He could change the match in one hour," Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
Furthermore, Chopra asserted that the first session of the fifth day will decide the ultimate winner of the third Test. Moreover, he reckoned that KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant’s partnership will be crucial for Team India to make it big and take a 2-1 lead.
"The first session of the fifth day will decide it. KL Rahul has scored a century in the first innings. He is looking good. Since Rishabh Pant bats in a way that can turn the match quickly, I think this will be the partnership. Actually, a lot is dependent on Rishabh Pant," he concluded.
It's important to note that Pant is the second-leading run-scorer of the series, accumulating 416 runs from five innings at an average of 83.20 with two centuries and as many fifties.
