“It seemed like they were chasing 250” - Aakash Chopra reveals the reason why Pakistan lost to India

Aakash Chopra explains Pakistan's 61-run T20 World Cup 2026 defeat saying "it seemed like they were chasing 250," highlighting timid batting approach and mental collapse after Ishan Kishan's explosive knock set competitive total on Premadasa pitch where scoreboard pressure exposed Pakistan's fragile mindset.

Former Indian cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has opened up on the reasons why Pakistan suffered a 61-run drubbing to India in the marquee clash on Sunday, February 15, in Colombo.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra asserted that Pakistan should’ve batted first after winning the toss, adding that the team is always known for self-goals. Furthermore, he talked about the way Pakistani top-order batters lost their plot early in the powerplay overs.

"When Pakistan came to bat, what was their thought process before coming? It seemed like they were chasing 250. They should have batted first 100-percent after winning the toss, but they didn't do that. This team is known for self-goals, and it was a self-goal," Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

"Sahibzada Farhan, there are talks about the documentary, but he got out before the D of the documentary had come. The game plan we made yesterday about keeping the ball outside the off-stump, from where he drags the ball and gets out, and he got out there only," he added.

"Hardik Pandya took the first and the last wickets. If the match is against Pakistan, you cannot keep Hardik Pandya out of the game. This thing is almost written in stone," Chopra noted.

Delving into the details of the game, India was tasked to bat first. Despite losing the toss, the Indian batters, led by Ishan Kishan, posted an above-par total of 175/7 in 20 overs. Opening batter Kishan was the star, scoring 77 runs off 40 balls with 10 fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 192.5.

In response, Pakistan suffered a major collapse right from the initial overs, getting bundled out for 114 runs in 18 overs. Usman Khan was the top scorer with 44 runs in 34 balls, but couldn’t take his side over the line.
