AB de Villiers selects his World XI; two Indians and a Pakistani included

Former South African batter and cricket analyst AB de Villiers has selected his World XI as he has been part of the World Championship of Legends (WCL 2025) in the United Kingdom, which is set to conclude on Saturday, August 2.

It’s important to note that Mr. 360 is currently playing for the South African Champions in the ongoing WCL 2025 campaign. Interestingly, he was asked to pick his World Best XI on the sidelines of the WCL by the famous presenter Shafali Bagga.

AB de Villiers, who accumulated 20,000-plus international runs and retired from all forms of international cricket, has included two Indians and a Pakistani in his XI, which boasted five Australian cricketers.

He initiated his World XI with his former teammate Graeme Smith opening the innings with the dashing and legendary former Australian opening batter Matthew Hayden, forming an exceptional opening pair.

Moving forward, he has selected the former Australian captain Ricky Ponting at the No.3 slot. Later, AB slotted his former RCB teammate Virat Kohli at the No.4 slot with former Australian captain Steve Smith making it to No.5. 

Moreover, the former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson occupied the No.6 slot. Legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni made it to the No.7 slot. Interestingly, there is no all-rounder slotted in AB’s playing XI.

Also, two pacers have been selected, comprising Mitchell Johnson and Mohammad Asif. Subsequently, Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne are part of the spin attack, with no captain announced for the XI.
