Indian opening batter Abhishek Sharma has rocketed to the pole position in the newly released ICC T20I rankings on Wednesday, July 30, overtaking his IPL teammate Travis Head, with a total of 829 rating points.
It’s important to note that Head had occupied the pole position since June 2024 after moving past Suryakumar Yadav. However, with Head last playing a T20I in September 2024 and not playing the recent West Indies series, he has to slide down with Abhishek taking over the No.1 spot.
On the other hand, Australian middle-order batter Josh Inglis has moved to the ninth rank, climbing six places up, with 717 rating points after ending the West Indies T20I series as the third-leading run-scorer.
Also, West Indies top-order batter Shai Hope, who scored a century in the Australia T20I series, settled for the 10th rank with 690 rating points. Tilak Varma, Phil Salt, Jos Buttler, Suryakumar Yadav, Pathum Nissanka and Tim Seifert occupy the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth ranks respectively.
Also, Tim David, who smacked the fastest T20I century for Australia, moved 12 places up to the 18th rank while Brandon King and Cameron Green ascended in the updated ICC T20I batters rankings.
Speaking about the ICC T20I bowlers rankings, New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy continues to occupy the top spot with 717 rating points. Australian pacer Nathan Ellis, who consistently scalped wickets against West Indies, moved seven spots up to the ninth rank with 664 rating points.
Varun Chakravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi and Arshdeep Singh are the Indian players part of the top 10 bowling rankings.
In the ICC Test all-rounder rankings, England captain Ben Stokes moved three spots up to the No.3 rank while Ravindra Jadeja continues to hold the pole position. Also, Washington Sundar surged eight places to his career-best 13th rank.
