Indian opening batters Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill were involved in verbal fights with the opposition players, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf, during the Super Four clash against Pakistan on Sunday, September 21, in Dubai.

Moving into the details, Abhishek and Gill went on to stitch an exceptional 105-run opening partnership to shut down the doors for Pakistan. During the chase, there were a couple of heated moments between the openers and Pakistani bowlers.

On the last ball of the third over, Gill came down the track off Shaheen Shah Afridi to hit an exceptional boundary. Later, Gill pointed his bat towards the boundary, bringing out the memories of Aamer Sohail vs Venkatesh Prasad in 1996.

Additionally, in the fifth over, Gill hit another seamer, Haris Rauf, for a four to finish off the over with 12 runs. Abhishek Sharma, from the non-striker’s end, quickly joined the party to throw a few words at Rauf. Eventually, umpire Gazi Sohel intervened to calm things down.

Speaking about the incident, Abhishek has revealed that the opposition bowlers were trying to provoke things and for the same reason, he had to go after them. Notably, Abhishek smacked a 74-run knock off 39 balls to change the game’s complexion.

“Today it was very simple. The way they were coming at us without any reason, I did not like it at all. That's why I went after them,” Abhishek said after the game.

“We (Abhishek and Gill) have been playing since school days, we enjoy each other's company, we thought we would do it and today was the day,” he added.

“If you see someone playing like this, it's because the team supports me and they back me. That's the intent I show and I'm practicing really hard and if it's my day, I'm gonna win it for my team,” he concluded.
