Jasprit Bumrah's "plane crashing" gesture to Haris Rauf during the Asia Cup 2025 final was supported by former India spinner Amit Mishra, who said it was a fair response to Rauf's previous joke about Pakistan's jet claims.
Jasprit Bumrah's crushing wicket of Haris Rauf and subsequent send-off at the Asia Cup 2025 final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium served as the pivotal moment in the match between India and Pakistan.
In the 18th over of Pakistan's innings, Bumrah broke Rauf off stump with a fiery delivery and bowled him out. Following the dismissal, however, the Indian pacer made a gesture that caught everyone's attention. He imitated a "plane crashing down," a scathing reaction to Rauf's antics at the Super Fours stage earlier in the tournament.
Prior to this match in the clash of India and Pakistan at the Super Four stage, Rauf was positioned at the boundary rope on September 21 and raised his fingers to signify "0-6" in response to the jeers of Indian onlookers.
In reference to Pakistan's completely baseless allegations that they shot down six Indian fighter jets during the four-day border skirmish following India's Operation Sindoor in May of this year, he made a gesture during the Super Fours competition. Mishra believed that Bumrah's response was a suitable response to Rauf.
He was seen insulting the crowd in several videos taken from the stands, which many took to be a reference to the Indian-Pakistani military confrontation earlier in the year. The incident increased the contest's emotional intensity and prompted harsh criticism.
Bumrah's furious farewell on Sunday seemed to be retaliation in kind. Before his stumps were shaken, Rauf had edged a delivery to the boundary in the same over, but the Indian fast bowler's intention was clear after the wicket.
Indian leg-spinner and former cricket player Amit Mishra defended Jasprit Bumrah, believing that Bumrah's response was a suitable response to Rauf. "He was flying too high. So, he fell down. The match goes on. There is nothing wrong with what Bumrah did. No one said anything. No one did anything. Whatever they did, they got it back," Mishra said while speaking exclusively to ANI.
