Shree Charani, a member of the Women's Cricket World Cup-winning team, received significant honours from the Andhra Pradesh government on Friday. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced a financial incentive of Rs 2.5 crore, a thousand-square-yard home plot, and a Group-I government position for the cricket player during a meeting with Shree Charani and former Indian women's cricket captain Mithali Raj in Amaravati.
After meeting Charani upon her return from Delhi, Chandrababu Naidu made the announcement. He praised her for her World Cup efforts and said Andhra Pradesh was proud of her accomplishment. At a brief ceremony, Charani was also congratulated and told about her involvement in India's first-ever 50-over World Cup victory.
Three state ministers were present to greet Charani, who is from the Kadapa district, at the airport in Vijayawada. With 14 wickets at the end of the competition, the left-arm spinner was among India's best players.
In the final, she trapped South Africa's Anneke Bosch lbw for zero, which changed the course of the match and gave India the much-needed breakthrough. She had helped India secure their place in the championship match by taking two vital wickets for 49 runs against Australia in the quarterfinal.
Charani has had an incredible journey to this point. Throughout the tournament, the 21-year-old left-arm spinner, who only made her international debut in April, became one of India's most dependable bowlers.
Speaking at a press conference at the Mangalagiri stadium, Shree Charani stated that her ascent to the national team was made possible by the Andhra Cricket Association's (ACA) training and support. “Though the hard work and experience of former players went unnoticed, we are reaping the fruits of their efforts as we are more visible today because of them,” said Charani.
Indian women's skill has been demonstrated by their victory in the women's world cup. The CM stated in the announcement that the Indian women's cricket team has become a role model for female athletes. The squad defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final on Sunday in Navi Mumbai to win the 50-over World Cup, their first international championship.
