Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana’s wedding with the music composer Palash Muchhal, which was supposed to happen on November 23, got postponed after her father suffered a minor heart attack ahead of the wedding and was admitted to a nearby hospital in Sangli.
Moreover, Palash also got admitted to a hospital as he fell ill. Fortunately, both were discharged. However, both families are yet to announce the new wedding date. Interestingly, a few rumours were suggesting that the wedding would happen on December 7. However, Smriti Mandhana’s brother has opened up on the rumours, dismissing them.
"I have no idea about these rumours. As of now, it (the wedding) is still postponed," Smriti's brother Shravan Mandhana told Hindustan Times.
On the other hand, Palash's mother, Amita, has revealed that she is hopeful of the wedding happening very soon. In an exclusive chat with Hindustan Times, she disclosed that both Smriti and Palash are in pain.
"Smriti and Palash dono takleef mein hain... Palash dreamt of coming home with his bride. I had even planned a special welcome... Everything will be fine, shaadi bohot jaldi hogi,” she stated.
After the wedding was postponed, Mandhana’s teammate and close friend Jemimah Rodrigues decided to pull out of the ongoing Women’s Big Bash League season to be with her friend during her tough phase, which caught the spotlight of the veteran Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty, who shared a heartfelt tweet on his official X handle.
"Bumped into this article first thing in the morning and my heart felt full. Jemimah leaving the WBBL to be by Smriti's side. No big statements, just quiet solidarity. This is what real teammates do. Simple. Straight. Genuine," Shetty wrote on X.
