Given that the Asia Cup 2025 will start in the United Arab Emirates on September 9, a number of elite Indian players might be sidelined. The tournament under the T20I format will take place in Dubai and Abu Dhabi until September 28. Several well-known figures may be excluded from the team. Here, we take a look at five of them.

1. Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal's attacking style is ideal for Twenty20 cricket. In IPL 2025, he amassed 559 runs with a strike rate of almost 160 in 14 innings. He might, however, be left off of India's 2025 Asia Cup roster.

As previously said, Gill appears almost certain to make an unexpected comeback, while Samson and Abhishek are automatic selections for India's Asia Cup 2025 roster. He was a member of the 2024 T20 World Cup squad, but it appears that he is no longer with the Men in Blue. In July 2024, he played his last T20 International match against Sri Lanka in Pallekele.

2. KL Rahul

KL Rahul, a player who has been a reliable and strong presence for India in the past several tournaments, appears to be eliminated from the race as well. KL Rahul, a batsman and wicketkeeper, seemed to find it challenging to participate in the Asia Cup. Given his current form, Sanju Samson will be Team India's first-choice wicketkeeper.

In addition, Dhruv Jurel and Jitesh Sharma can be included in the team as backup wicketkeepers. Rahul last appeared for India in a Twenty20 International match on November 10, 2022, at Adelaide Oval in the 2022 T20 World Cup semifinal against England.

3. Shreyas Iyer

During IPL 2025, Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer led from the front and guided his team to the final, where RCB defeated them. He displayed outstanding batting form during the IPL 2025 season, scoring 604 runs at a strike rate of 175.07 in 17 games.

In addition to his IPL exploits, he is a serious contender for India's T20I team for the next Asia Cup because of his outstanding achievements in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on UAE fields. Even if he manages to secure a spot in the team, his chances of making it to the playing XI are slim due to the Indian middle order's close proximity.

4. Mohammed Siraj

India's star player during the England visit was Mohammed Siraj. He bowled almost 188 overs in the series and continued to give it his all throughout the five matches. Siraj was the top wicket-taker with 23 at the end.

Although he is India's best bowler in Test cricket, his performance in Twenty20 Internationals over the past year or so has been questioned. A year ago, in July 2024, he played his final Twenty20 International for India. Arshdeep, Harshit Rana, Hardik Pandya, and more players are available in India. India may try to rest Siraj there in preparation for the 2024 Asia Cup.

5. Sai Sudharsan

After hitting 759 runs in 15 games as the Gujarat Titans' opener in the 2025 Indian Premier League, Sai Sudharsan was awarded the Orange Cap. He was a strong candidate to be included in India's squad for the 2025 Asia Cup, thanks to his reliable and explosive top-order batting for GT.

But now that the openers have been all but decided, it doesn't appear he will have a chance. On July 7, 2024, in Harare, Sai Sudharsan made his final and only appearance for India in a Twenty20 International match against Zimbabwe. In that match, he made his T20I debut, but did not get a chance to bat.
