Australia announced their squad for the three-match T20I series in Pakistan ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026 tournament. This will be Australia’s last assignment before the ICC event begins in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 onwards.

After playing Pakistan in Lahore on January 29, 31, and February 1, Australia will head to Sri Lanka, where they will play Ireland in Colombo on February 11 to begin their World Cup campaign.

Australia will rest five top players, including Pat Cummins and Glenn Maxwell, for the three-match T20I series against Pakistan. Apart from them, Josh Hazlewood, Tim David and Nathan Ellis will also skip the series starting later this month.

Jack Edwards and Mahli Beardman receive maiden Australia call-up for Pakistan T20Is

Only ten players from the T20 World Cup team are expected to play in Australia's 17-man squad for the three-match T20I trip of Pakistan, including uncapped Mahli Beardman and Jack Edwards.

In the current Big Bash League season, Edwards has taken 15 wickets for the Sydney Sixers, while Beardman, 20, has impressed with eight wickets for the Perth Scorchers.

Other players that have joined the team, which will once again be led by Mitchell Marsh, are Sean Abbott, Beardman, Ben Dwarshuis, Edwards, Mitch Owen, Josh Phillippe, and Matt Renshaw.

Prior to the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, which starts on February 7, chief selector George Bailey stated that the five were either recovering from injuries or having their loads handled.

"The series is a great opportunity for those on the brink of selection and some young players we rate highly for valuable experience. Some are already experienced international players, along with Mahli Beardman who has been with the group a number of times, and Jack Edwards who joined for the last one-day match against India in Sydney last year,” CA chief selector George Bailey stated as per AFP.
