On Friday, October 17, Australia suffered another injury blow with their batting all-rounder Cameron Green suffering from low-grade side soreness, which will keep him away from the whole three-match ODI series against India.

Australia were quick to bring in the in-form top-order batter Marnus Labuschagne as a replacement. Interestingly, Labuschagne is currently part of the Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide and will fly to Perth on Saturday night to join the ODI squad ahead of the first match on Sunday.

A Cricket Australia spokesperson has stated today morning that Green first experienced discomfort in his side at training this week. For the unversed, Green pulled out of the recent T20 tour of New Zealand earlier this month to be a part of Western Australia’s first Shield game of the season and had already been left out of the five-match T20 series against India.

"Green will complete a short period of rehabilitation and is tracking to return to play in round three of the Sheffield Shield to continue his preparation for the Ashes," Cricket Australia said in a statement.

Interestingly, the keeper-batter Josh Inglis has also been ruled out of the first ODI as he continues to recover from a right calf strain, while Alex Carey also misses the match to be a part of the Sheffield Shield match. Moreover, Adam Zampa has been ruled out of the first ODI for family reasons.
