BCCI demotes Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma in the newly announced central contracts

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on February 9, unveiled the Indian men’s and women’s central contracts for the 2025–26 season. Notably, these contracts cover the period from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026.

In the men’s contracts, Indian veteran batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been demoted from Grade A+ to Grade B, following their retirement from the longest and shortest formats of the game. 

In the top category, Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja are part of it. On the other hand, BCCI removed the Grade A+ category for the ongoing season, with Grade A being the top category. 

Young Indian batter Sai Sudharsan received his maiden central contract after being part of the Indian Test side, replacing Cheteshwar Pujara. Also, Sarfaraz Khan, Mohammed Shami, Ishan Kishan, Rajat Patidar, and Mukesh Kumar have been removed from the contracts list. 

Delving into the details of the women’s contracts, Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Deepti Sharma have been retained in the Grade A, with Jemimah Rodrigues earning promotion to the top grade.

In a major move, Sneh Rana has been promoted from Grade C to Grade B. Also, Pratika Rawal, Kranti Gaud, Sree Charani, Kashvee Gautam, G Kamalini, Vaishnavi Sharma, and Tejal Hasabnis have received contracts for the first time.

BCCI Men's Contracts

Grade A - Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja.

Grade B - Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Washington Sundar, Mohammed Siraj, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer.

Grade C - Axar Patel, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Verma, Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Dhruv Jurel, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakaravarthy, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Abhishek Sharma, Sai Sudharsan, Ravi Bishnoi.

BCCI Women's Contracts

Grade A - Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma.

Grade B - Renuka Thakur, Sneh Rana, Shafali Verma, Richa Ghosh.

Grade C - Radha Yadav, Amanjot Kaur, Pratika Rawal, Kranti Gaud, Uma Chetry, Arundhati Reddy, Sree Charani, Yastika Bhatia, Harleen Deol, Kashvee Gautam, G Kamalini, Vaishnavi Sharma, Tejal Hasabnis.
