BCCI told to give Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma a Rafael Nadal-level farewell when they retire

Former Indian cricketer Madan Lal has asserted that the Indian veteran batting duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma deserve a Rafael Nadal-level farewell whenever they bid adieu to international cricket. 

Notably, Rohit and Kohli retired from the longest format of the game ahead of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, while they left the shortest format of the game after the T20 World Cup 2024.

Meanwhile, they are all set for their international comeback since the conclusion of the ICC Champions Trophy in March 2025. The forthcoming three-match ODI series against Australia Down Under will mark their international comeback.

Speaking exclusively on the Cricket Predicta TV Show, Madan Lal reckoned that the legendary batting duo deserves a farewell that brings tears to everyone who watches it. Moreover, he added that they are once-in-a-generation players.

"Rohit and Virat still have a lot of cricket left in them. They deserve a farewell that brings tears to every eye, something like what the world witnessed when Rafael Nadal retired. India must honour them the same way. Players like them are once-in-a-generation," he said on the Cricket Predicta TV Show.

Later, Madan Lal also heaped praise on the Indian No.3 batter Kohli, who has an exceptional record against the Australians in the limited-overs cricket. The former cricketer backed Kohli to come out of the comfort zone to do well.

"Virat now needs to step out of his comfort zone as he faces a formidable Australian side. He has given everything to Indian cricket — his passion, fitness, and hunger have set the highest standards," he added.
