Adidas, an Indian jersey manufacturer, unveiled a new T20 uniform on Wednesday in front of the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in Sri Lanka and India starting on February 7.

During the mid-innings break of the second ODI against South Africa in Raipur on Wednesday, former India skipper Rohit Sharma introduced the team's new T20I jersey. Tilak Varma joined him on stage for the event, during which Adidas India General Manager Vijay Chauhan and BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia formally gave them the World Cup shirts.

In a first-of-its-kind experience, spectators inside the stadium got the very first glimpse of the jersey when a life-size version was spectacularly unfurled on the pitch during the India vs South Africa ODI, turning the revelation into a stadium-wide celebration of Indian cricket. This historic announcement represents adidas and the BCCI's common goal of bringing fans closer to the game and transforming the shirt into a potent symbol of solidarity among players, supporters, and the country.

India will play in Group A with Pakistan, the United States, the Netherlands, and Namibia in the 10th T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Sri Lanka and India from February 7 to March 8. On February 7, India will begin their campaign against the United States in Mumbai.

Adidas and the BCCI designed the new jersey, which combines a striking, vintage design cue with a contemporary high-performance style. While keeping the classic neckline from the 2024 T20 World Cup-winning shirt, the kit blends modern pattern innovation with a nostalgic twist, drawing influence from the iconic striped India jerseys of the 1990s.

Body-mapped, 3D-engineered mechanical stretch textiles with adidas' newest CLIMACOOL+ materials drain perspiration more quickly and keep players dryer for longer in order to combat the harsher summer weather. Ultimate breathability is made possible by perforated wide three-stripe tapes, and best-in-class air permeability is provided by carefully positioned mesh holes on the fabric and trims, guaranteeing ideal ventilation even in the harshest conditions.
