When Sanju Samson emerged from a practice session ahead of the 2025 Asia Cup, fans in Dubai went crazy. The players were seen leaving the ICC Academy in Dubai during a practice session in a video that went viral on social media. Suryakumar Yadav joked that Samson was a "local boy" because of the attention he received.
The team skipped a domestic preparatory camp and arrived straight in Dubai on September 4. The team has held several practices at the ICC Academy under the direction of head coach Gautam Gambhir, concentrating on batting positions, bowling combinations, and wicketkeeping choices. The competition is scheduled to start on September 9; the Men in Blue will play the hosts, the United Arab Emirates, on September 10 before facing Pakistan in the main event on September 14.
Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson's Encounter with Fans:
A sizable fans gathered to welcome Suryakumar, Samson, and Rinku Singh as they made their way to the team bus after one of India's practice sessions. Samson's chants were captured in the now-viral video as supporters pressed the Kerala batter for photographs and autographs. "Bhaukal hai Samson ka, local boy," added Suryakumar, who was clearly taken aback by the fans' devotion to the wicket-keeper batsman. Samson then showed his appreciation for them by signing autographs and posing for photos.

With the Asia Cup 2025 looming big, Samson is still the centre of attention. The 30-year-old is not a lock to start in the multi-nation event because Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma might open the innings, despite his impressive performances as an opener for India in T20I cricket. Following a strong IPL 2025 season for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), India selected Jitesh Sharma for the team's wicketkeeping position. Sharma might be a useful middle-order alternative.
