Bollywood actress Geeta Basra and cricket player Harbhajan Singh's romance is just one example of how love tales can develop in the most surprising manner. With a little assistance from Yuvraj Singh, a close friend and one of India's most well-known cricket players, they were able to discreetly grow from strangers to life partners.
It all began when Harbhajan saw the poster for the film Geeta when she was just starting out as an actor. With Yuvraj's assistance, a bond was formed that resulted in a love that lasted over time, distance, and doubt.
At the age of 21, Geeta Basra made her acting debut opposite Emraan Hashmi in Aditya Datt's 2006 romantic thriller Dil Diya Hai. The next year, she and he reunited in the crime thriller The Train. She met cricketer Harbhajan Singh, who would later become her husband, at about the same time and expressed interest in marrying her. Before agreeing, the actor had one need, though, and it related to cricket.
Basra, during her appearance on Bharti TV, mentioned, “He was very clear. He saw my poster, and it was probably love at first sight for him. He asked Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) for my number. Obviously, Yuvi has a lot of friends."
Soon after, Harbhajan contacted her, but Geeta initially didn't respond. “They’d just won the World Cup. So a couple of days later, I’d messaged, ‘Well done! Congratulations!’ That’s it. We got in touch again. When we met, he was very clear he didn’t want friendship and said, ‘Tere se hi shaadi karunga’. I said, ‘Shaadi?’ I was only 21," she further said.
The actress disclosed that it was a totally different period for women when she first entered the industry 15 years ago. However, Basra proposed a condition for marriage because she was also enamoured with Singh.
“I told him the day you’d score 300 wickets, I’d say yes. A couple of days later, he got 300 wickets. So I said let’s give it a shot," explained Batra. They eventually got married in 2015, and now are parents to two kids.
