Breaking: IPL 2025 suspended as India and Pakistan conflict escalates

The richest cricket board, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has officially decided to suspend the ongoing IPL 2025 season with immediate effect. Notably, the league’s next course of action hasn’t been announced yet.

Interestingly, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has already been moved to Dubai for the remaining eight matches of its season. These changes happened due to the ongoing war-like tensions between India and Pakistan.

Importantly, the 58th IPL 2025 clash between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was called off on Thursday night after just 10.1 overs. According to the official statement, it was abandoned due to a power outage in the area, and one of the light towers at the HPCA stadium malfunctioned. 

Also, the BCCI will confirm the league’s and board’s next course of action in the upcoming few days. It’s important to note that the safety of all players, support staff, and stakeholders who were part of the league is very important for now.

The biggest and immediate concern for the BCCI is the safety of all the stakeholders involved in the ongoing season. The players and support staff were informed to board the bus at their hotels in Dharamsala, but they haven’t been told where they will board the train to Delhi from.

Also, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal earlier on Thursday stated that any further announcements about the league would be made in consultation with the government. 

"We are reviewing the situation. It's evolving, and we haven't received any directive from the government yet. Any decision will be taken keeping all logistical considerations and the best interests of stakeholders in mind," Dhumal had stated earlier.
