By the close of Day 1, hosts India were in trouble after losing three wickets in rapid succession. Batting was difficult the next day as well due to a spin-friendly surface, but the hosts were able to rally thanks to a strong 96-run partnership stitched by "Gabba heroes" Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. While Gill scored 90 runs, the keeper-batter played an aggressive style of cricket, hitting 60 runs off 59 deliveries.
Although he needed some time to calm down, he kept the scoreboard moving, which allowed India to reach 263 runs. Washington Sundar produced a crucial knock towards the end, scoring an undefeated 38 runs off 36 deliveries, including two sixes and four boundaries. If Akash Deep hadn't blown his wicket toward the end, India might have had a larger advantage than the 28 runs they gained in the first innings.
Shubman Gill, Jadeja, Ashwin trend on internet:
The pacer swiftly made amends, though, when he removed Tom Latham in the opening over. The Kiwi hitters have been dominated by the spinners ever since. The visitors appeared quite uneasy as the ball was turning squares, and the spin masters Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took full advantage of that.
Despite Will Young's excellent 51-run knock, none of the other batsmen was able to make a significant contribution. Despite his impressive appearance, Glenn Phillips left after hitting 26 runs off of 14 deliveries. On the second day, New Zealand scored 171/9, with Jadeja taking four wickets and Ashwin taking three.

With New Zealand ahead by 143 runs, India is confident they can win on Day 3. The Indian spin duo, who wreaked havoc on Day 2, will make it difficult for Ajaz Patel and Willaim ORourke, who are on the crease and would like to contribute a few more runs. Watch this space for more cricket news.
