After lifting the ODI World Cup trophy in November 2023 in India, Australia are chasing glory yet again in the upcoming Champions Trophy. Steve Smith is their captain this time and it is certainly a depleted squad. But by no means have Australia’s chances reduced to win another ICC event. Despite missing the likes of Josh Hazlewood, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, the world champions have some very good players in their line-up. Here are 3 game changers in Australia squad who can help them lift the trophy:

1. Travis Head

Travis Head has had a memorable 18 months and he is certainly a game changer in this Australia squad. He likes to take the bowling head on right from the word go and can really turn the game with his aggressive batting just like he did in the World Cup final. Head can roll his arm as well if needed but most importantly, his batting will be key for Australia.

2. Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell is a special player and many might not agree with this, but he is yet to realise his full potential. His double-century on one leg against Afghanistan in the World Cup is still one of the best knocks in history. 3. Sean Abbott

This name might surprise many but Sean Abbott is certainly a game changer. He was brilliant for Sydney Sixers in the recent Big Bash League (BBL) season picking up 10 wickets in six matches. He can also bat lower down the order and when it comes to ODIs, he can hang around if needed as well. In 20 innings he has batted so far in the format, Abbott has scored 372 runs at an average of almost 21 with two fifties to his name which is a decent record for a number eight batter. Along with it, he has also accounted for 32 wickets so far in 27 matches.
