Venkatesh Iyer twists ankle

Madhya Pradesh batter Venkatesh Iyer was found in immense pain as he twisted his right ankle while batting in the Ranji Trophy match against Kerala at the Greenfield Stadium. Iyer was in visible pain and limped off the field, giving an indication that the injury could be a serious one.

Kerala won the toss and opted to bowl first on a lively wicket. There was enough assistance for the pacers as Kerala reduced Madhya Pradesh to 50/4.

Venkatesh Iyer replaced Harpreet Singh Bhatia, but could only bat for three deliveries, scoring two runs before he retired hurt. A twisted ankle generally takes around one to six weeks for recovery and that has put Venkatesh Iyer's participation in the IPL 2025 season in jeopardy.

Will Venkatesh Iyer be fit for IPL 2025?

As a twisted ankle takes up to six weeks for recovery, Venkatesh Iyer is likely to get fit ahead of KKR's first game of the IPL 2025 season at the Eden Gardens.

He is a massive part of the plan for the Knight Riders as he was bought back in the auction for a whopping INR 23.75 crore. Iyer played a crucial role in KKR's third title win last year and is set to play a crucial role for the team once again in the IPL 2025 season.

As far as the match between Madhya Pradesh and Kerala is concerned, pacer MD Nidheesh has been breathing fire against the Madhya Pradesh batting line-up, picking up four wickets already at the time of writing.

Nidheesh sent back openers Harsh Gawli and Himanshu Mantri for 7 and 15 runs respectively and also sent back star batter Rajat Patidar for a duck. Harpreet Bhatia also departed for just five runs trapped in front of Jalaj Saxena's bowling before Venkatesh Iyer retired hurt.
