Cricket Australia names the final squad for Champions Trophy 2025

On Wednesday, February 12, Cricket Australia confirmed its 15-man strong squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. Unfortunately, Australia will be without its in-form pace trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood.

Notably, Mitchell Starc has pulled out of the tournament for personal reasons. On the other hand, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins will also not make it to the mega event as they are nursing injuries.

Furthermore, Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the competition due to a back injury. Marcus Stonis, who recently announced his sudden retirement from ODIs, will be replaced by seam bowling all-rounder Aaron Hardie.

As the pace trio is all set to miss the event, Spencer Johnson, Nathan Ellis, Sean Abbott, and Ben Dwarshuis have been added to the squad. Glenn Maxwell is another batting all-rounder, who will also share spin duties alongside Adam Zampa, the principal spinner.

Tanveer Sangha, the emerging talent, is another spin bowling option in the 15-man squad. Spin-bowling all-rounder Cooper Connolly has also been named in the squad as the traveling reserve.

Jake Fraser-McGurk, Travis Head, Matthew Short, and Marnus Labuschagne are other batting options part of the squad. Josh Inglis and Alex Carey and wicketkeeping options.

The showpiece event is scheduled to start on February 19 in Pakistan and Dubai. While the majority of the matches are scheduled to take place in Pakistan, India’s matches will be scheduled in Dubai.

Australia will play against England on February 22, South Africa on February 25, and Afghanistan on February 28 in the competition.
