The first Twenty20 International of the three-match series between Zimbabwe (ZIM) and Sri Lanka (SL) will take place at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on Wednesday, September 3. After the hosts have already won the ODI series by a score of 2-0, the T20I leg will start. The home team is anticipated to make its series roster announcement one day before the first game. Their most recent Twenty20 International match, a Tri-Series against South Africa and New Zealand in July of this year, ended in a disappointing result.

Zimbabwe lost all four league games and missed out on the finals even though they had the home advantage. In the meantime, the self-assured Sri Lankan squad will try to duplicate their excellence in the game's shorter format. The visitors expect to win the T20I series as well and won't be making many changes to their plans. The Lankans have participated in four Twenty20 Internationals this year and have won twice.
