Cricketer Tarisai Musakanda arrested for attempt to murder

The domestic conflict between Tarisai Musakanda, the Zimbabwean cricket player, and his wife Tinodiwanashe Makunike, also known as Mai Dewei, led to his detention and the filing of a serious accusation of attempted murder. Cricketer Tarisai Musakanda has made headlines over big criminal charges.

Musakanda last participated in international cricket over two years ago. He has played for Zimbabwe in five Tests, sixteen ODIs, and twelve T20Is. In addition to prior legal troubles pertaining to a deadly car accident in 2022, his arrest represents yet another upsetting development in his personal life. 

Cricketer Tarisai Musakanda's Major Domestic Conflict:

Mai Dewei hired two guys to build a shelter for her vending site, which is when the altercation happened, according to National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi. When these men came to get paid, things got out of hand and there was a fight with Musakanda. According to witnesses, Mai Dewei's calls for assistance woke up the neighbours at around three in the morning. Speaking anonymously, a neighbour described the terrifying scenario.

Things swiftly descended into violence, with Musakanda allegedly stabbing his wife with a kitchen knife. Mai Dewei was injured in her back as well as her hands. There is a history of domestic disagreements between the couple, therefore this episode is not unique. 

Following his arrest, Musakanda is being held at the Kwekwe Central Police Station. Following a prior court dispute in 2022, Musakanda was accused of culpable homicide for her role in the death of former tennis star Gwinyai Chingoka in a car accident. This arrest follows that case. Later, he was exonerated of the accusations.
