CSK foreigners get strict warning for IPL 2025

After the high-profile T20 League was suspended for a week due to tensions along the India-Pakistan border, the majority of the foreign recruits in IPL teams left for their home countries on Saturday.

A day after the Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals game in Dharamsala was called off in the middle of play due to air raid alerts in nearby Jammu and Pathankot, the Indian Premier League (IPL) was stopped on Friday. With the competition delayed, the players and support personnel from various teams have begun returning to their hometowns, while numerous overseas players are home-bound.

There were a number of announcements regarding the IPL 2025 restart on Sunday, May 11. First and foremost, it was said that the league would start on May 16 and that the BCCI had instructed the teams to request the return of its foreign players by Tuesday.

The availability of their foreign lot worries every franchise, and in the most recent developments, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has spoken out about it. He disclosed that the foreign stars will need to return to the competition, even though the Men in Yellow are not in contention anymore.

According to Cricbuzz, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan stated, “Although we are not in contention for a play-off berth, we want the league to be completed. The IPL is a prestigious league, and we want it to cooperate with the BCCI on the matter. We have only two more games left, and we have advised the overseas players that they may have to return in a week."

There have been 57 IPL 2025 matches played so far. After 10.1 overs of play, the 58th match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamsala was called off. The IPL has not yet taken a call on whether that match would be replayed.

Twelve league games remain before the four playoffs begin. The original plan was for Kolkata to host the second qualifier and the final, while Hyderabad would host the first qualifier and the eliminator.
