CSK opens up as a report states multiple releases ahead of IPL 2026 Auction

According to various reports coming out on the internet, the Chennai Super Kings are expected to release a few important players from their squad ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction. Interestingly, franchises are expected to give out the retention names by November 15.

According to Cricbuzz, the CSK franchise is likely to release Sam Curran, Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tripathi, and Devon Conway. For the unversed, the auction is expected to take place around mid-December.

However, CSK’s decision to leave out star players like Devon Conway and Sam Curran didn’t go down well with a lot, as they tried questioning the franchise on various social media platforms, requesting a proper answer. 

CSK was quick to issue a clearance on the matter, but in a humorous manner. Soon after the rumours went viral, CSK updated their bio on X (formerly Twitter) to read, "Nothing's official till you see it here." 

"Don't worry, we've updated the bio," CSK shared a post on X, clearing all the rumours on the internet. This post has given perfect clarity for all the CSK fans amidst the uncertainty. 

For the unversed, CSK, led by MS Dhoni, won only four matches out of 14 games in the last IPL 2025 season, having a poor edition. However, they would be aiming to make a strong comeback right from the auction table for the upcoming season. It’s worth noting that Ravi Ashwin’s retirement from the IPL, CSK's purse balance has been increased by INR 9.75 crore.
