India A and Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj has been added to the Indian squad for the fourth Test against England, scheduled to start on Wednesday, July 23, at Old Trafford in Manchester. Notably, he recently represented the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2025 season.

It’s important to note that Anshul Kamboj was recently part of the India A squad that played two three-day games last month against England Lions. He went on to pocket five wickets in both games.

“Arshdeep has a deep cut and has had stitches; he will take at least ten days to get completely fit. The selectors have decided to add Kamboj in the squad,” a BCCI source said as quoted by The Indian Express.

It’s worth noting that Arshdeep suffered an injury on his bowling hand during the nets session while he was bowling to Sai Sudharsan on his follow-through. Though he got a few stitches on his hand, he is unlikely to recover for the fourth Test.

Moreover, another Indian pacer, Akash Deep, is also suffering from a groin niggle, and his availability for selection remains unclear with the Manchester Test. His selection call would be taken on the morning of the Manchester Test.

“Arshdeep took a ball while he was bowling there, Sai hit a ball and he tried to stop it and it’s just a cut. So we have to see how bad the cut is. Obviously, the medical team have taken him off to see a doctor and obviously, if he needs stitches or doesn’t need stitches it’s going to be important to our planning for the next few days.”

Anshul Kamboj has accumulated 79 wickets from 24 first-class games for Haryana. However, it would be interesting to watch if he would be included in the final playing XI for the fourth Test vs England.
