Former India cricketer Dinesh Karthik picked India’s all-time T20 World Cup XI recently and decided to leave out the current head coach of the team, Gautam Gambhr. Instead, the wicketkeeper-batter has gone with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli while also snubbing one of the most aggressive openers of India, Virender Sehwag.

Karthik picked the all-time XI of India in the T20 World Cup in a video on Cricbuzz. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli opened for India in the 2024 edition of the mega event with the former scoring 257 runs with three fifties. On the other hand, Virat Kohli was named the player of the match in the final against South Africa with his 76-run knock off 59 balls.

At the first drop, Karthik went with Suryakumar Yadav who scored 199 runs and also took a crucial catch of David Miller in the last over of the final. At number four, the 40-year-old picked Yuvraj Singh who played a vital role in India winning the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup.

Yuvraj was the one who smacked six sixes against England’s Stuart Broad and also scored 148 runs overall in the tournament. MS Dhoni was picked as captain by Karthik in India’s all-time T20 WC XI that he picked.

Hardik Pandya is the next player in Karthik’s XI who is a genuine all-rounder. He can bat at number six and also deliver four overs with the ball for his side. Dinesh Karthik picked the bowling attack comprising Harbhajan Singh, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah.

Arshdeep is India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is, with 99 wickets and was also the top wicket-taker in 2024 T20 World Cup. Bumrah’s pick is not surprising as the fast bowler will walk into any playing XI these days. Harbhajan and Kuldeep are also decent picks as spinners as they can keep a leash on the opposition batters in the middle overs.

Dinesh Karthik’s India T20 WC all-time XI: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni (C & WK), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah.
