Founder and Chairman of EaseMyTrip, Nishant Pitti, took to X to confirm that the company will not be associated with the India Champions vs Pakistan Champions semi-final fixture in the World Championship of Legends 2025 season.
It’s important to note that EaseMyTrip was onboarded as the official sponsor for the second season of the WCL campaign. However, they decided to pull out of the semi-final contest, stating that terror and the game of cricket cannot go hand in hand.
“India vs Pakistan – WCL Semi-Final. We applaud Team India @India_Champions for their outstanding performance in the World Championship of Legends, you’ve made the nation proud.
However, the upcoming semi-final against Pakistan is not just another game, Terror and cricket cannot go hand in hand. @EaseMyTrip, we stand with India. We cannot support any event that attempts to normalise relations with a country that promotes terrorism.
The people of India have spoken and we hear them. EaseMyTrip will not be associated with the India vs Pakistan match in WCL. Some things are bigger than sport. Nation first business later Always. Jai Hind,” Nishant Pitti tweeted.
India Champions qualify for semi-finals
India Champions required a massive win over West Indies Champions in their last league game to qualify for the semi-final on Tuesday, July 29. Eventually, they managed to trash WI-C by five wickets, finishing off the chase in 13.2 overs to set their semi-final clash against Pakistan.
Moving into the details, West Indies Champions batted first after losing the toss, posting only 144/9 in 20 overs, courtesy of Kieron Pollard's 74-run unbeaten knock in 43 balls with three fours and eight sixes.
In response, India Champions finished off the game in 13.2 overs despite losing five wickets. Stuart Binny was the star of the show, scoring an unbeaten 50 off 21 with three fours and four sixes. Moreover, he scalped two important wickets, conceding 17 runs in four overs.
