Australian women’s premium all-rounder Ellyse Perry has notified the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) that she will miss the upcoming edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) due to personal reasons.

However, a few hours after the announcement was made official by the RCB, Perry was seen playing for Wellington Blaze against Northern Districts Women in the Women's Super Smash 2025-26 season, a domestic T20 league in New Zealand.

She went on to scalp 3/11 with the ball, while she scored 39 valuable runs in the game as Wellington Blaze won by 61 runs. The Women’s Super Smash is scheduled to conclude on January 31, and its schedule coincides with the WPL, which is scheduled to take place from January 9 to February 5.

It’s worth noting that it’s still unclear whether Perry has signed up with Wellington Blaze for the entire season, as she had competed in only two matches in the previous Women’s Super Smash edition.

For the unversed, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) confirmed Ellyse Perry’s decision to pull out of the upcoming season due to personal reasons on Tuesday, December 30. On the other hand, the RCB, on their social media platforms, revealed that the all-rounder had informed her decision a week before the mega auction. Notably, RCB has already signed Sayali Satghare as Perry's replacement for the WPL 2026 season.
