The middle-order batsmen took needless wickets as the top-order hitters failed to provide a strong start to the match. The English bowlers, meanwhile, were having a great time. Matthew Potts, Brydon Carse, and Saqib Mahmood all claimed two wickets. The top order appeared completely different when England batted. 

The 93-run first-wicket partnership between Jamie Smith and Ben Duckett provided England's innings with the ideal foundation. The remaining hitters later converted the momentum. The hosts finished the match in 29.4 overs, well within their comfort zone despite losing three wickets. Jos Buttler scored 41 runs off 20 balls, and Joe Root scored 44 runs off 49 balls. To prevent more disruptions, the players played quickly while keeping the rain factor in mind. Smith was named Player of the Match for his outstanding hitting display.
