“If Nitish Reddy is an all-rounder, then I am a great all-rounder” - Ex-selector slams the Indian all-rounder

Former selector Kris Srikkanth fiercely criticized Nitish Kumar Reddy's "all-rounder" tag amid India's Test struggles, stating, "If Nitish Reddy is an all-rounder, then I am a great all-rounder." He demanded selection consistency and questioned why Axar Patel was dropped for Reddy.

Former Indian chairman of selectors Kris Srikkanth has slammed the Indian selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, for the all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy’s constant selection in the team despite poor performances.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth, alongside his son Anirudha, reacted strongly when Nitish’s name was mentioned during a discussion. In the discussion, the former cricketer went on to slam the Indian all-rounder.

Furthermore, Srikkanth asserted that apart from Nitish’s century at the Melbourne Cricket Ground during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he didn’t do anything special to remain part of the squad across formats.

“Who calls Nitish Reddy an all-rounder? Can anyone see his bowling and say he is an all-rounder? He hit a hundred at the MCG, yes — but what has he done after that? One swallow doesn’t make a summer,” Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel.

“If Nitish Reddy is an all-rounder, then I am a great all-rounder. Let’s call a spade a spade. Does he have movement? Pace? Is he some deadly batsman? How can you call him an all-rounder?” he questioned.

In the first innings of the second Test vs South Africa, Nitish could score only 10 runs off 18 balls. With the ball, he managed to bowl 10 overs across both innings without pocketing a wicket.

Interestingly, Nitish Kumar Reddy has also been selected for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa, which is scheduled to start on Sunday, November 30. Notably, he has been selected as Hardik Pandya’s replacement, as Hardik has been sidelined due to a quadriceps injury.

“How is Nitish in the ODI team also? What has he done? Is he the replacement for Hardik Pandya? Why not Axar Patel?” he questioned the selection committee.

India’s ODI squad vs South Africa: Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Tilak Varma, KL Rahul (C) (wk), Rishabh Pant (wk), Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Dhruv Jurel.
