Major League Cricket 2025: Finn Allen smacks 150 in 49 balls; breaks multiple T20 records

Former New Zealand opening batter Finn Allen hogged the spotlight in the opening fixture of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 season as he went on to hit the most sixes in a T20 innings (19) for the San Francisco Unicorns against the Washington Freedom at the Oakland Coliseum on Friday, June 13.

Allen smacked his record 19th six to bring up his 150-run knock off only 49 balls, which turned out to be the fastest 150 in T20s. Notably, Allen went past Chris Gayle and Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan of 18 sixes in a T20 innings each to create a new record.

Unicorns batted first in the first match of the season. The star Kiwi batter Allen went on to smack 40 runs off 14 balls inside the powerplay with five maximums. Later, he went past the 50-run knock in only 20 deliveries. 

A few balls later, he brought up his fourth T20 ton in only 34 balls, which was the fastest MLC century and the quickest T20 ton by a New Zealand batter. In the 17th over, he went on to hit the record 19th six before getting out in the following over.

The Unicorns posted 269/5 in 20 overs, making it the highest-ever T20 total in the United States. It’s important to note that Allen was part of the RCB franchise a few years ago as a replacement player before registering at the IPL 2022 Auction. However, he couldn’t get any game time. At the IPL 2025 Auction, he couldn’t get any bids after putting himself at an INR 2 Crore base price.
