Since its 2008 debut, the Indian Premier League has expanded to become one of the largest leagues in the world. Every successful IPL franchise has a powerful owner, whether they are a well-known brand, a Bollywood star, or a business tycoon. Their plans, investments, and vision greatly influence teams and increase the league's appeal. Here is the full list of IPL team owners.

Mumbai Indians are still owned by Indiawin Sports Pvt. Ltd., the Reliance Industries vehicle that runs the Ambani family’s sporting interests. MI’s ownership has been stable for years and remains one of the richest backings in the league. Chennai Super Kings is linked to India Cements (and the Srinivasan family), a structure that goes back to the franchise’s founding and ties CSK closely to Tamil Nadu’s industrial and cricketing establishment.

Royal Challengers Bangalore continues under United Spirits (Diageo’s Indian arm), which acquired the franchise interests after the early days of Vijay Mallya’s ownership and remains the corporate face of RCB. Kolkata Knight Riders are still the celebrity-led outfit co-owned by Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta through the Knight Riders group.

Sunrisers Hyderabad is owned by the Sun Group (Kalanithi Maran and family, with Kaviya Maran active in the team), keeping media-house ownership prominent in the IPL landscape. Delhi Capitals remain a joint venture between the GMR Group and JSW Sports. This is a co-ownership that splits operational roles and points to how conglomerates share risk and expertise in big-ticket sports assets.

Rajasthan Royals’ majority ownership is held by Manoj Badale’s Emerging Media Ventures (reported at about a 65% stake), a setup that has been in the headlines for legal disputes in 2025 but still leaves Badale as the leading figure at RR. Punjab Kings is the established four-partner consortium (Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta and Karan Paul), while Lucknow Super Giants are owned by the RPSG Group (Sanjiv Goenka), who have expanded their sports portfolio aggressively.

The most notable ownership shift entering 2025 involved the Gujarat Titans. Torrent Group agreed to buy a 67% controlling stake from funds managed by CVC, making Torrent the new majority owner pending formal approvals
