Pakistan batter Haider Ali has reportedly been cleared of all charges of rape by the UK police. Notably, Ali was ultimately declared not guilty in the claimed rape case by the Manchester Police because they were unable to obtain enough evidence against him.
Haider Ali was a member of the Pakistan Shaheens' team on their England tour when he was detained by the Greater Manchester Police on Sunday, August 3, after being booked on August 8 for his claimed involvement in a sexual molestation case.
Notably, the police had received a complaint on Monday, August 4, 2025, for an event that occurred on Wednesday, 23 July 2025, at a premise in Manchester, involving Haider Ali.
"We have arrested a 24-year-old man," read the police statement.
Haider Ali was arrested by the Greater Manchester Police while he was playing for Pakistan Shaheens in a one-day game at Beckenham. He was eventually released on bail, but the Pakistan Cricket Board immediately suspended him from all cricket pending investigation.
After a 24-year-old batter was reported to Greater Manchester Police for allegedly sexually assaulting someone, Ali was arrested at Kent's Spitfire County Ground.
Haider Ali walks free due to lack of evidence.
Now, Geo News has reported that after being imprisoned in the UK and granted a provisional ban by the Pakistan Cricket Board, Ali is set to be released by the GMP and the UK's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) owing to a lack of evidence. Haider has been in the United Kingdom during the entire process, but he is now free to return to Pakistan.
Following the PCB's publication of a statement verifying that Ali "received appropriate legal support to protect his rights throughout this process" in compliance with the board's player welfare and code of conduct, criminal law attorney Barrister Moeen Khan represented Ali during the proceedings.
The PCB is yet to release a statement on the matter. Ali represented Pakistan in international cricket with 35 T20I appearances.
