After the current T20 World Cup 2026, 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi should be considered for India's next tour, according to former spinner Harbhajan Singh.

Following Sooryavanshi's outstanding innings of 175 off 80 balls, which featured 15 fours and 15 sixes, in the U-19 World Cup 2026 final against England, Harbhajan made these comments. The game took place in Harare on Friday, February 6.

India won its sixth U-19 World Cup after posting 411 runs and winning the match by 100 runs thanks to Sooryavanshi's effort. After scoring 439 runs in seven innings at an average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169.49, including three fifties and a century, Sooryavanshi was also named Player of the Tournament.

Harbhajan expressed hope that the 14-year-old may play in the 2027 ODI World Cup and the 2028 Olympics and said that Sooryavanshi should be a part of India's upcoming series, whether it be ODIs or T20Is.

We saw him in the IPL as well, explosive batting, there he wasn’t playing against Under-19 teams there. He is an incredible player. I think for the next India tour, be it ODIs or T20s, he should definitely be included. Imagine a team with Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Jaiswal, it would be an amazing team! And in 2027, there’s the 50-over World Cup, another huge opportunity. Such young, hungry talent should definitely be played,” Harbhajan Singh said on his YouTube channel.

The Olympics are also coming in 2028, and I believe these players deserve opportunities. Vaibhav is already doing big things at such a young age. I won’t compare him to Tendulkar, no one can be like him, but Vaibhav has immense talent and is ready for international cricket. I think he should be fast-forwarded into the team. I hope that once he turns 15 on March 27, he gets a chance to play for India,” he added.

Sooryavanshi has participated in 25 games for the U-19 team, amassing 1,412 runs at an average of 56.48 and a strike rate of 165.72, including four hundreds and seven fifties.

Sooryavanshi will be seen in action next for Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming IPL 2026 tournament.
