“West Indies have made the situation very tight now” - Harbhajan Singh opens up on Team India’s qualification scenarios

Harbhajan Singh warns “West Indies have made the situation very tight now” analyzing Team India's complex Super 8 qualification math after their 76-run loss to South Africa, with WI's strong wins putting pressure on India's remaining Group 1 fixtures for semi-final spot.

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh is hopeful about South Africa beating the West Indies in their next Super8 clash, creating a pathway for the Indian team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, to advance to the semi-final.

Speaking exclusively on his YouTube channel, Bhajji asserted that if the West Indies defeat South Africa, the Indian team will be almost out of the competition, despite them winning their next two games against Zimbabwe and the West Indies.

"West Indies have made the situation very tight now. Now if South Africa wins their next two games, and India wins their next two games, we will definitely qualify. But we are depending on South Africa. If West Indies beat South Africa, then India will have to cover a margin of 183 runs. These many runs are usually scored in 20 overs. It is a very big margin. This scenario is very tough and if that is the case India will be out of the tournament," Harbhajan Singh said on his YouTue channel.

"The biggest thing for India is that South Africa should win both games and India win both. Then our train will come on the track. It is difficult but not impossible. Your focus should be on winning your games, and also pray that West Indies lose to South Africa. If West Indies win, then three teams will have four times and it will come down to net run rate. West Indies and South Africa are very ahead there and it will be a loss for India,” he added.

"We have to see what kind of cricket we play now. Before our game, South Africa play West Indies in Ahmedabad. South Africa have played well there and we hope they beat West Indies. But you never know, West Indies with this form can do anything. That match will decide things. We hope everything goes in our favor. It has become very interesting now," he concluded.

South Africa will next lock horns with the West Indies in their next Super8 clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, February 26. On the other hand, India will take on Zimbabwe in their next game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, on the same day.
