Harry Brook eager to play IPL in the future

England middle-order batter Harry Brook has opened up on missing out on the Indian Premier League 2025 season, stating that the cash-rich league is the best franchise tournament in the world, and he would be eager to play the league in the future.

Interestingly, Brook pulled out of the IPL 2024 and IPL 2025 seasons to improve his red-ball game. While he was roped in by the Delhi Capitals in the 2025 season, he later pulled out of the season for the same reason.

“It was an incredibly difficult decision. The IPL is an amazing tournament. It’s tough cricket, with the best players in the world. The crowds and atmosphere are amazing. It is the best franchise tournament in the world. I would love to play the IPL in the future, but for the time being, the focus is on England duties,” Brook said in a media interaction organised by Sony Sports Network, and as quoted by The Hindu.

Ahead of the start of the IPL 2025 season, the IPL governing council introduced a new rule, saying a player will run the risk of being banned from the competition for two years if he pulls out at the last minute after being picked up in the auction. Brook broke the silence on this new rule.

"They haven’t told me. But if I do get banned, fair play. That’s the rules they put in place, but I’m completely committed to playing cricket for England," Brook added.

Furthermore, he also talked about the surface being prepared for the Edgbaston Test, scheduled to start on Wednesday, July 2.

“Historically, the Edgbaston pitch can be flatter. There is probably more in it for spinners. Otherwise, it is generally a typical English pitch. If there is any spin - and I’m completely guessing here - it will probably be late on days three, four and five,” Brook stated.
