In an exclusive conversation with Shubhankar Mishra on a YouTube podcast, the former South African batter Hashim Amla has revealed his all-time ODI XI. Interestingly, Amla snubbed the former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who has racked up 11370 runs from 276 ODIs at an average of 49.22.

Delving into the details of Amla’s all-time ODI XI, he has slotted Sachin Tendulkar and Adam Gilchrist as his left-right opening pair. Notably, Sachin is the leading run-scorer in ODIs with 18426 runs, and Gilchrist racked up 9619 runs from 287 ODIs.

Later, Amla picked up the former Indian captain, Virat Kohli, at the No.3 batting slot. For the unversed, Kohli is the lone active player in Amla’s all-time ODI XI. The Indian talismanic batter is the second-leading run-scorer in the 50-over format, amassing 14255 runs from 305 ODIs.

Moving forward, Amla has picked up Brian Lara and AB de Villiers at the No.4 and No.5 slots, respectively. While Lara racked up 10405 runs from 299 ODIs, AB de Villiers accumulated a total of 9577 runs from 228 ODIs.

Subsequently, Amla has slotted Jacques Kallis in the lone all-rounder’s position. Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni will take up the keeper’s slot. Kallis has scored 11579 runs and picked 273 wickets from 328 ODIs, while Dhoni has accumulated 10773 runs from 350 ODIs.

Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne take up the spin duties while Wasim Akram and Dale Steyn form the pace battery. Muralitharan is the leading wicket-taker in the format with 534 wickets from 350 ODIs, while Warne could pocket 293 wickets from 194 ODIs.

On the other hand, Wasim Akram scalped 502 wickets to emerge as the leading wicket-taker among pacers in 356 ODIs, while Dale Steyn has pocketed 196 wickets from 125 ODIs.
